We are inventing a foundational platform which will transform warehouse robotics through innovative and efficient robot designs and software which makes it easy to deploy and scale robotic systems. The team is seeking an exceptional Software Manager to lead and support the software team for this initiative.
Amazon Robotics is creating robots and systems which will be the foundation for the next generation of fulfillment automation. The team is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Software Development to own the software for these new products. This role will lead and support multiple teams working on subsystems ranging from low level robotics to operational tools for production workcells . They will work with internal and external partners in creating solutions deployable at Amazon scale.
Key job responsibilities
* Own the software architecture - lead and support the team in making high-ambiguity technical decisions and tradeoffs. Proactively manage and mitigate technical risks.
* Execute effectively. Deliver predictable results which meet the needs of customers and programs
* Foster the career development of the team. Leading, coaching, motivating and rewarding the engineers is a critical part of this role.
* Design, build, optimize and operate systems for Amazon scale

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
