SALARY:
2024, $83,380, NYS Retirement; Health, Dental, Vision Benefits; Paid time off; Yearly Increases, CSEA Union

LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs NY – Department of Public Safety 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed on the Saratoga Springs application form on or before the last filing date: 

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Business Management, Office Administration, Office Management, Office Practices, Secretarial Science, Office Technology including at least six semester credit hours of accounting and ONE (1) YEAR of full time paid (or its part-time 20 hour per week equivalence) of administrative experience OR
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Office Administration, Office Management, Office Practices, Secretarial Science, or Office Technology including at least six semester credit hours of accounting, and THREE (3) YEARS of full time paid (or its part-time 20 hour per week equivalence) of administrative experience.

 

Special Notes:

Administrative experience: is defined as direct involvement in the maintenance of a varied and complex set of accounting records, posting entries into a computerized system, and making adjustment entries; codes and classifies financial transactions following established and accepted accounting practices; prepares a variety of tax and financial reports in compliance with State and Federal requirements, and reviews internal control accounting systems. Maintaining and checking financial accounts and records of a clerical nature is NOT qualifying.


The degree must have been awarded by a college or university by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education/US Secretary of Education. n. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. DUTIES: 

  • This work involves responsibility for the day-to-day business management and account-keeping activities of the Department of Public Safety. 
  • Duties include assuring that the office work flows smoothly, and the performance of special tasks as assigned by the department head. 
  • General direction is received from the Commissioner and direct supervision by the Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety with wide leeway allowed for independent judgment. Supervision is exercised over the clerical staff. The incumbent does related work as required.
