Position Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Online Associate (Adjunct) Faculty members for part-time, temporary positions. As an Online Associate Faculty member, you will be responsible for providing high-quality online instruction. Your duties will include posting guidance and expectations, participating in classroom discussions, grading assignments, and responding to student inquiries in a timely manner. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with students and help them succeed in an online learning environment. Additional duties may be assigned based on your experience and qualifications.
Essential Job Duties:
Student-Centered Learning: Foster an engaging and supportive online learning environment that prioritizes student success.
Collaborative Support: Work with various university departments to ensure a positive experience for all students, including collaborating with:
The Office of Access and Wellness to support student success with appropriate accommodations.
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to enhance professional growth and teaching effectiveness.
The Student Records department to maintain accurate and timely student records.
Faculty Requirements: Fulfill all faculty obligations such as facilitating classroom discussions, grading, and responding to student inquiries promptly.
Professional Development: Complete one professional development session per course taught, such as webinars, synchronous development opportunities, or course feedback sessions.
Relationship Building: Utilize creative strategies and tools to build strong relationships and a community of learners who actively engage with each other.
Critical Thinking: Encourage students to think critically by challenging their assumptions, fostering clear communication, and supporting their ability to defend their positions.
Instructive Feedback: Provide constructive feedback that motivates and guides students to improve their work and critical thinking skills.
High Expectations: Maintain high standards for student performance and engagement, ensuring they are accountable for their learning and contributions.
Instructor Expertise: Leverage your expertise in the subject matter to connect course content to real-world examples, enhancing student comprehension and application.
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible to work in the United States.
Reliable internet connection and a computer with video capabilities.
Relevant work experience in the area of your degree.
Commitment to upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
Master's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer & Information Systems Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Proficiency in common internet tools, Zoom, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Commitment to online teaching.
College-level teaching experience.
Experience teaching in the field of your degree.
Experience teaching in an online classroom.
At least 2 years of recent industry experience in a software development environment using current technologies (e.g., PHP, HTML5, CSS3, PWA, etc.).
At least 2 years of recent experience using React and Progressive Web App technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in a related field.
Industry certifications such as MTA-HTML5 App Development, Zend Certified PHP Engineer, Associate Android Developer, Swift Developer Certification, Cisco, Blockchain, AWS, Microsoft, DBA-Database Administrator, or similar professional credentials.
Experience working with online student populations.
Compensation:
$19.25+ per hour, depending on experience.
