POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the principal in administration and supervision of the school and it’s instructional and support programs. Major duties include student discipline and management, and licensed and classified staff supervision, and may involve responsibility for the athletic/activity and/or curriculum program of the school.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree plus additional specialization in educational administration.
  • Criminal history clearance.
  • Oregon Administrative License with Administrator endorsement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as acting principal in the absence of the principal.
  • Supervises student attendance monitoring, reporting, and follow up in compliance with school and district policy, state rules and regulations.
  • Administers the student discipline and management program.
  • Assists the principal in supervision of the school campus and school events.
  • Assists in recruiting, screening, and hiring of all school staff.
  • Supervises and evaluates licensed and classified staff as assigned.
  • Provides leadership to designated staff as assigned.
  • Develops or assists with master teaching schedule and administration of student class scheduling procedures.
  • Assists in conducting safety inspections and drills, and responding to emergency situations.
  • Manages or assists in managing the curriculum, staff development, and/or athletic/activity programs as assigned.
  • Organizes and leads student/staff/parent/community committees and groups as assigned.
  • Attends professional meetings and conferences as needed to maintain current knowledge.
  • Assists parents and community members as needed.
  • Assists the principal in school improvement activities.
  • Interprets and implements all legal requirements, Board policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information related to district financial, collective bargaining, and legal matters.
  • Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents and staff.
  • Provides direction to others and makes independent judgments.
  • Operates computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
  • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, sitting.
  • Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations.
