Job Description

LaAmistad is looking for a skilled Bus Driver who will be responsible for operating buses and transporting students safely to their destinations/LaAmistad Afterschool programs. In this position, you will be expected to maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle, follow traffic rules and regulations, and provide excellent customer service to students, kids and passengers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate a bus safely and efficiently to transport passengers to various destinations
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving
• Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition
• Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus as needed
• Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior
• Communicate with as needed to coordinate routes and schedules
• Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities immediately
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required
• Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

Requirements and qualifications:

• Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement
• Clean driving record with no accidents or violations
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience as a bus driver preferred
• Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects
• Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Each role with LaAmistad is part of a strong team. To support the team, you will likely be required to walk quickly across varying distances on our campuses, lift and carry supplies and other materials, push heavy rolling carts, and climb multiple flights of stairs as well as have adequate hearing and vision to successfully navigate the requirements of the position

Locations Hiring

*Afterschool Hours are generally from 2:30-5:30*

• Mondays and Wednesdays: Pick up from Briar Vista ES and drop off at Clairmont between 2:00-3:00 PM.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays: Pick up from Woodward and drop off at Brookhaven between 2:20-2:30 PM. Then, pick up from Morningside and drop off at Metro between 2:45-3:00 PM.
• Mondays to Thursdays: Pick up from Lake Forest ES and drop off at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church between 3:00-3:30 PM. Subsequently, provide drop-off at LCC for children requiring it between 5:00-5:30 PM.
• Mondays to Thursdays: Pick up from Peachtree Church at 5:30 PM. Between 5:30-6:30 PM, conduct parent drop-offs.

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, pass a background check, and have a clean motor vehicle record.
