The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for *REVISED* Administrative Assistant II, Wilson Advising Center, College of Liberal Arts (OPEN TO NSHE CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES ONLY) [R0142917]


The Administrative Assistant II position provides administrative and clerical support to the Wilson Advising Center (WAC) for the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) particularly as it relates to academic advising and student success. This position reports to the Center’s Administrative Assistant IV/Office Manager and will assist with managing office-wide administrative functions and support academic advising staff. Primary responsibilities include reception duties, working with other administrative assistants and front desk support to ensure that all incoming calls and emails are answered and prioritized; engaging with UNLV students visiting the WAC in need of assistance with academic advising services and/or student success-related support; moderate data manipulation and analysis using spreadsheet programs and other data management tools; document typing and processing; travel and reimbursement arrangements; purchasing and disbursement functions, record management; and having knowledge of all functions within the WAC, including creative and strategic problem solving. The position manages the overall workflow of the reception area for the center. This is a Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm position, there is no remote work available for this position.



Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Demonstrated experience in and/or knowledge of excellent internal and external customer service skills and practices, strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail. Working knowledge of software programs such as Salesforce, PeopleSoft (MyUNLV), Google Docs, Microsoft Word, & Excel is desired.


This recruitment is limited to current classified employees who have served at least six months of continuous full-time equivalent service in a probationary, special disabled, emergency, provisional or permanent status, or any combination of these, in the classified service AND who is currently working in the area specified in this job advertisement.

Grade 25 Step 1, salary 38,419.20. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
